Music Ministry Mission Statement
As a Music Ministry, we are committed to proclaim the word of God through music. We encourage our members to be prayerful and Christ-centered as we lead the congregation in worship. We shall foster opportunities and support for all who participate in our ministry. We will strive to achieve musical excellence through the same kind of love, compassion, faithfulness, strength, truthfulness, self-control, patience, and motivation for service that our Lord possesses.
Music Ministry Prayer
O Gracious God, You have blessed us with a love for You and a passion to share Your gift of music. As we gather together, keep us mindful of Your presence that we may remain humble and centered on You. Bless the music gifts that You have given us that we may lead our community to enter more deeply into prayer and into the great mystery that is You. Let everything we do be for Your Glory. Amen.
Why We Serve As Musicians
Music is a vital part of the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and is a symbol of unity in our parish family. We are ministers who share the faith and who serve the community, expressing the love of God and neighbors through music. As we celebrate the Sunday mass, we encourage and promote active participation by means of acclamations, responses, psalmody, antiphons, and songs as well as by actions and gestures. Music deepens and intensifies our experience of liturgical prayer. We experience spiritual growth and commitment to our faith. St. Augustine says, “He who sings prays twice’’ and “Singing is for the one who loves”. Music is not just a sign of unity, it is a sign of God’s love for us and of our love for Him.
Our Music Ministry Needs
We invite singers who can sing pleasantly and in tune. It is not necessary to have experience singing in a choir or to read music; however, some musical background or able to read music is often very helpful. Come sing with us!
